Case Study

We entered into a promotional agreement with a landowner at Glen Parva on a 10 hectare site in the Blaby District. Although the site related well to the built form, the site was on a historic quarry that had been filled with inert materials and was therefore as brownfield site. Whilst the project team drew up a constraints led scheme, we undertook specialist ground investigations to fully understand the nature of the ground and ensure that the scheme was deliverable. We were able to come up with a solution that resolved the foundation and gas issues that were viable and deliverable.

We submitted an outline application for 165 dwellings to Blaby District Council who unfortunatley decided to refuse the scheme despite officers reccomendation of approval. Whilst we set in motion the appeal process, Council Officers asked us to resubmit the scheme as they did not think they could win the appeal. We agreed to resubmit whilst the appeal was still progressing, so that planning officers fast-tracked the application and it was quickly approved.
